Very Rare set of prints.
This is a beautiful set of 12 vintage 15" x 10 1/4" prints of Shanghai Flower and Bird Paintings Selected by Shanghai People's Fine Arts Publishing House.
First Edition 1979
All in really very nice condition with some having a light crease at the corner here and there from handling. See photos for true condition and to see how nice they are.
The folder they are in has wear with some rips and tears.
All but three prints have red stamps.
Each has Chines notation at the bottom.
I have translated below the Chinese text on the folder to give further information on the art prints to help you better understand the prints history.
These prints were published to explain that flower and bird painting is a subject of tradiitonional Chinese painting and has a long history. Since liberation, under the correct leadership of the party, there have been new developments. But during the rampage of the "Gang of Four", it was severely devastated. The Party Central Committee headed by the wise leader Chairman Hua smashed the "Gang of Four" in one fell swoop, liberated literature and are, and reborn flower and bird painting In order to prosper artistic creation and to meet the needs of readers, we compiled this collection of paintings form the "Selected Works of Shanghai Flower and Bird Paintings" published by our agency in 1962 for the reference of art workers.
