Description
Vintage Atwater Kent Model 10C 4700 Breadboard radio that is in its original Pooley Cabinet. This rare find is in exceptional condition, with the finish on the cabinet all original, simply cleaned and polished with a professional wood wax. There are two minor veneer chips on the left side of the cabinet, along the bottom edge, that do not detract from the overall appearance. The top of the cabinet is accented with a dental pattern and there are rosette accents on the top and bottom of the body. The spindle legs are classic 1920's and the knobs are also from the same era. The cabinet opens on the top to make easy access to the breadboard and also from the front, which allows for display of the breadboard. There are 2 doors beneath that reveal the built in speaker and the battery eliminator. The breadboard itself comes equipped with all of its tubes and is fully functional. The radio has been restored electronically, with the capacitor on the underside replaced (the original is included). The radio is connected to a battery eliminator and functions quite well when properly grounded and hooked up to a long house antenna. The radio is a must have for the collector of early radios and you will not be disappointed in this piece. Due to the delicate nature of the legs on the Pooley Cabinet, as well as the delicate nature of the breadboard, this radio will not be shipped and is being offered as a local pick up only. With that said, if someone wishes to arrange for shipping through a professional carrier that will package the radio properly, I will be happy to drop it off for proper shipment. Do not hesitate to make an offer, all will be considered.
