P
air of Antique French Doors
w/Leaded Glass
* Although there are 3 available, the list price is for 1 pair (2 doors).
We have 9 photos per pair, but since eBay limits us to 12 photo, we could only include 4/pair. Please message us for more photos.
* Please note that the 60"x82" in the title is just an estimate. No pair is exactly that size. Look at the dimensions below.
Rare
, antique doors salvaged from an old home in New York City. Each door has a solid Douglas Fir core covered with 1/8"-thick hardwood veneers. It's tough to identify the hardwood because of the paint, but my guess is cherry or walnut. All doors are painted white on both sides.
Each
door has a 3/4-length window with a beautiful, leaded glass skeleton/frame with 15, true-divided glass lites.
If you look closely at the photos of Pair#3, you may notice that one lite is broken. We meant to add glass prior to taking photos, but since we just moved to a new location and didn't finish unpacking, we couldn't find our glass cutting tools. However, we will add the missing pane/lite prior to shipping for no extra charge.
Hardware
:
Except for the hinges, each pair of doors comes equipped with their original hardware: 2 brass-plated steel flushbolts and a lockset comprised of an octagonal glass knob, brass lever/handle, 2 brass rosettes, 2 brass keyhole covers, and a rabbetted mortise lock and strike plate.
Uneven Size
:
The width of one door, (in Pair#1) and the height of the other door in Pair#1 were unevenly cut by 1/4". The height of one of the doors in Pair#2 was also cut by 1/4" And the height of the other door in Pair#2 by 3/8".
All of the cuts were
most likely done to compensate for an old warped floor or settling foundation. We could cut any door to an even size, shorter/narrower, or even build it up to make it taller/wider--email us for a quote.
Condition
:
The doors are
strong
,
sturdy and in excellent condition.
They have
the typical scrapes, scratches, and small nail holes that you would expect to find on old, used doors.
However, there are no breaks, cracks, gouges, rot, or warp.
The small blemishes it has will disappear or diminish drastically after stripping and sanding.
A
ll of the
glass is intact and in great condition with only subtle scratches.
The leaded frames are completely intact with only a few spots where the lead has a slight separation. We tried to capture one of these with the camera, but they were too small and we couldn't get the camera to focus on them. There are strips of lead that are bent forward, an that was done by whomever previously applied the grout between the glass, behind the lead. If you plan on re-grouting or adding silicone, you could just push back the lead with your fingers once you finish. The skeletons/frames are strong, not sagging, and don't require any repair or reinforcement.
Strip/Refinish
:
We could strip/refinish, or partially or completely strip the door to prepare it for you to repaint or refinish.
We have MANY photos of doors that we've restored that could give you an idea of how these doors could clean up
.
Email us with a small description of what you would like

We could also modify the door to fit your opening or suite your needs. We could make a frame, trim or add to the height or width, replace glass with panels, etc. Email us with a small description of what you would like
done
, and we'll give you a quote.
